MOURNING THE LOSS OF A JOYFUL AND BEAUTIFUL DEAR FRIEND
Cristina J. Fowler, our beloved founding member and long-time director of our Foundation, passed on September 14, 2017.
Cristina was a unique, dedicated and amazing community activist who made innumerable contributionsto the Hispanic community in the New Orleans area over the years. She was the first organizer of the Azúcar Ball, an event which has generated funds for over 800 scholarships to students of Hispanic heritage who have demonstrated a willingness to work hard. Cristina was selfless and dedicated and touched the hearts of all of us who knew her with her beautiful example of Christian charity and love of her family and faith. She was always concerned about the less fortunate, the poor and all of those who needed help.
May she rest in peace. Our Foundation will continue the job that Cristina started and will work harder than ever in order to accomplish the mission envisioned by her and her husband George.
In lieu of flowers Cristina’s family has requested that donations be made to the Foundation, whose mission Cristina greatly supported and worked so hard to fulfill.
