NOHHF Nueva Gen Youth Leadership Institute
A leadership development program of the New Orleans Hispanic Heritage Foundation
Nueva Gen Youth Leadership and Development Institute is an empowerment program of the New Orleans Hispanic Heritage Foundation (NOHHF) that invites New Orleans students to participate and explore a new leadership path through practical, community-centered learning. The program fosters leadership skills, community engagement, and decision-making abilities to prepare students for impactful roles in their careers and communities.
Our Vision: To cultivate a network of purpose-driven leaders who embrace their identity, inspire others, and contribute to the social, economic, and cultural vitality of our community.
Our Mission: To empower young people through leadership development, mentorship, professional preparation, and meaningful community connections, creating pathways to achievement and lifelong impact.
At the NOHHF Nueva Gen Youth Leadership Institute, students:
- Stride into meaningful conversations to discover how their voices and ideas connect to what’s happening in their own neighborhood and beyond to create a brighter future for their community.
- Build leadership skills through collaboration, exchange of ideas, and problem-solving skills. They work through different viewpoints to discover how strong communities create space for improvement and potential change.
The program offers two-day or three-day workshops for high school students in the greater New Orleans area. During the workshops, students interact with leaders, educators, and local professionals, gaining practical abilities in communication, critical thinking, and, more importantly, teamwork.
Nueva Gen Youth Leadership and Development Institute participants discover career pathways in leadership, education, arts, and research. Many of them will set fresh goals for their future and where they want to thrive next.
