2021 Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration

The NOHHF partnered with the Louisiana Children’s Museum for special performances on Saturday, October 2nd celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at the museum. Throughout the day, Bianca San Martin guided museum’s guests through the rhythms of an Afro-Latin Medley with dance and history lessons on the salsa, the bachata, and the merengue. Bianca is very proud of her Hispanic Latin culture; her father is from Puerto Rico and her mother is from Honduras. It is Bianca’s purpose and passion to promote her Hispanic heritage through Latin dance.

We were joined by guest author Florencia Schabelman, who read her bilingual book My New Neighbors/Mis Nuevos Vecinos. For other bilingual books, Spanish versions of our favorite tales, and books that honor Latinx authors and illustrators, you can visit the library in the museum’s Make Your Mark gallery.
