Bolero Jazz: Stories of a Musical Rendezvous

The New Orleans Hispanic Heritage Foundation in collaboration with the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation is pleased to present the Bolero Jazz: Stories of a Musical Rendezvous. The event will feature a lecture by Daniel Party, PhD, who is a Richard E. Greenleaf Fellow at the Latin American Library of Tulane University, in which the genre of the Bolero Jazz will be explored. After the lecture by Dr. Party, the Javier Olondo Quartet will perform a variety of Latin American rhythms such as Venezuelan Waltz, Bolero, Guajira, Afro and Son with a Jazz interpretation approach. The Quartet is comprised by Cuban musicians Javier Olondo, guitarist; Alexey Martí, percussionist; Víctor Campbell, pianist and Puerto Rican bass player, Jorge Pérez. January 24, 2020 George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center 1225 North Rampart Street New Orleans, Louisiana 70116 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm (doors open at 6:30 pm). Light hors d’oeuvres will be served and a cash bar will be available. The event is free and open to the public.
