20 mile Swim for Education

We are so happy to announce that the Prieto family, dad Mauricio, mom Susan, and daughter Carolina, will attempt a 3-person relay on December 27th at the Mexican English Channel. 16-year-old Carolina envisioned this charity swim. Carolina explains, “I recently moved from California to New Orleans. Upon my arrival in New Orleans, I learned that Hispanics played a critical role in rebuilding New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina’s destruction. Hispanic construction workers came to New Orleans’ rescue when the city most needed help. My parents and I will start at 4 am in a relay to benefit the New Orleans Hispanic Heritage Foundation, an organization which provides scholarships to talented high school and university students that would otherwise not be able to continue their education. As a Hispanic privileged to attend Isidore Newman School, I am very motivated to help both the NOHHF and my school, with all proceeds of the swim going towards a scholarship to Isidore Newman School. It is a small way to give back to a community that has given so much to this city.“

A huge thank you goes to this amazing family and specially to Carolina!!
